NOSH Odd Plate Dinner – 16 October 2020

16 October is World Food Day
Come and join us at Thava Indian Restaurant for a culinary experience with a difference!

You’ll be treated to a spectacular three-course (or more) meal expertly prepared and exquisitely presented by a team of professional chefs and foodies, aided by culinary students from HTA – Hospitality Trainers and Associate School of Culinary Art, based in Randburg and the Culinary Passions School of Hospitality (CPSH), using salvaged produce that would otherwise have gone to waste.

Our Chefs for the evening are Owen Jullies ( retired Seta F & B Director ) , Fungai Muzorewa ( Reg Exec Chef McBrothers and Director of the South African Chef’s Association ) with the assistance of Philippe Frydman (Thava Restaurant and Fellow  of the Academy of Chefs ) and Heinz Brunner ( Hon President of the South African Chef’s Association ,Fellow AOC and  World Chefs Hon Lifetime member ).

You will see that that even unloved produce, in the hands of skilled and talented culinary professionals, can shine and delight!

Jacque Lagesse will provide us with some memorable entertainment moments during the dinner.

Jacques is a popular crooner with more than 30 years’ performance experience, covering a variety of beautiful ballads, Latin and Jazz Standards, and fun renditions of popular songs.  

His velvet-lined voice, accompanied by the mellow tones of the acoustic and jazz guitars, is complemented by his classic dress sense, and a stage personality not unlike that of Sinatra in his heyday.

We are putting together a lucky draw and we hope to be able to put together some great goodie bags. You’ll also be treated to a selection of art on display and for sale as an additional fundraiser – all proceeds go to NOSH.

CPSH was envisioned by Celebrity Chef Khumalo in 2006 who has passion for empowering young people with knowledge and skills, the School is affiliated with one of Chef Khumalo’s company’s Asidle Gourmet catering a premium catering company also based in Midrand, and students are guaranteed a chance to practice in the real kitchen and making them employable as soon as they finish their formal training.
